The spearhead of the Castagnedi family was declared the best wine in Veneto by the guide “The best 100 wines and winemakers of Italy 2022” by Luciano Ferraro and Luca Gardini
Colognola ai Colli (Verona), 22 October 2021 – The flower among the flowers of Valpolicella, a declaration of love for the territory and for the art of making wine, which has now blossomed to become a splendid reality. The Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva DOCG 2011 Lilium Est by Tenuta Sant’Antonio was declared the best Amarone in Italy and the best wine in Veneto by the authoritative guide “The best 100 wines and winemakers of Italy 2022” of Corriere della Sera, edited by Luciano Ferraro and Luca Gardini, two columns of wine criticism and journalism in Italy.
In particular, the great critic Luca Gardini attributed a score of 98 + / 100 to Lilium Est, a result that testifies to the great work done by the Castagnedi family, capable of transforming a wine that is a symbol of Verona and Italy in the world into an authentic masterpiece.
Maximum expression of uniqueness, quality and the slow passage of time, Lilium Est is produced only in the best vintages in a limited number of bottles, the result of the exclusive selection of grapes which, subsequently, rest in aging for at least 10 years. An intense, ample, passionate wine comes to life, reflecting the most intimate identity of the territory. A harmonious texture that envelops you with an unrivaled, deep softness and rounded tannins.
Lilium Est accompanies us through the slopes of Valpolicella, in the valleys of Illasi and Mezzane, where over the decades the Castagnedi family has built its winemaking experience, capable of making you discover through the glass all the reflections and nuances of a territory synonymous with international excellence.
This extraordinary result rewards the development path undertaken by the Castagnedi brothers aimed at finding increasingly innovative production techniques and methods in order to be able to respect even more the territoriality and values it has always carried forward: deep respect for the territory, authentic genuineness and sustainability, this last understood as a harmonious synthesis between man and environment.
“Lilium Est, from the Latin” is a lily “, is for us a declaration of love for our territory, which bears its vocation for excellence in its name: in fact, we have decided to dedicate our spearhead to the flower between the flowers of Valpolicella, that lily that has always accompanied us in the search for the essence of beauty and perfection ”- says Tiziano Castagnedi, owner together with the brothers of Tenuta Sant’Antonio. “We are extremely excited about this great recognition, which rewards our work and our history and which we want to share with the whole Valpolicella community: a land that has given us a dream, which we must now look after, respect and grow, like the most beautiful among the flowers. ”

Tasting Notes
Produced only in the best vintages in a limited number of bottles, Lilium Est is the exclusive selection of grapes ready to age for at least 10 years. With an impenetrable ruby red color with garnet reflections, clear and consistent, the nose is very intense, broad and fine. Immediately, balsamic, almost iodized notes are perceived, transported by the remarkable alcoholic power, to later give space to the characteristic scent of ripe cherry, plum and small berries. The nose is spicy: star anise, cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper, vanilla and ginger. Tertiary aromas of cocoa, chocolate, tar, almond, toasted hazelnut and pipe tobacco. In the mouth it is dry, warm, soft and well supported by the balanced remarkable acidity, flavor and round tannins.
