Big news for the Veronese company, committed to an authentic interpretation of its territory in the context of new international trends.
The Castagnedi family, the reality of excellence in Eastern Valpolicella and owner of the historic Tenuta Sant’Antonio brand, presented important novelties at Vinitaly 2024: the entry of Soave DOC U.G.A. Monte di Colognola among the Family’s great white wines, the first label with BIOlogical certification of the TÉLOS brand and the continuation of the quest for excellence based on terroir and the enhancement of cru.
A new future for terroir-based whites
The first major announcement to the international wine scene at Vinitaly concerns the presentation of Soave DOC U.G.A. Monte di Colognola: a triumph of freshness, floral notes and white-fleshed fruit, united by the iconic minerality of Tenuta Sant’Antonio’s whites. A new, innovative interpretation of the Soave DOC appellation that completes the range of great Eastern Veronese whites offered by the Castagnedi brothers: Single Vineyard VIGNA Monte Ceriani, Soave Vecchie Vigne and Pinot Grigio. In this way, the Family seals an iconic quartet, united in a visual continuity by the premium labels that unite these four masterpieces and convey in an artistic and essential form the calcareous-sulphurous characteristics of the soils of Eastern Valpolicella. For Monte di Colognola, a golden triangle symbolises both the hilly form from which it originates and the first complex form of geometry, witness to the freshness and facet of this new creation.
Born in sustainability: TÉLOS and BIOlogical certification
Famiglia Castagnedi also brought to Vinitaly the first BIOlogical certified label of the pioneering TÉLOS brand: TÉLOS Il Bianco vendemmia 2023. With no added sulphites, BIOlogical and also vegan, the path of TELOS is the result of the continuous innovation that the Castagnedi Family has placed towards the wellbeing of people and the environment, placing the most advanced agronomic and oenological practices and technologies at the service of these values. A vision that since 2011 represents a unicum on the international wine scene for its ability to apply frontier techniques and practices to a product with universal distribution capacity, overcoming the great challenge of creating a wine synonymous with guarantee and qualitative excellence, even before being extremely healthy.
Enhancing cru wines with an international vision: the modernity by nature of Valpolicella Orientale
What unites the novelties of Famiglia Castagnedi and the new vintages of the iconic labels available at Vinitaly 2024 is a corporate vision that looks to the combination of international drinkability and the search for the identity of the territory, following a path that enhances the value of each cru and each individual vineyard. A mission that comes to life through innovative processes in the vineyard and in the cellar that guarantee contemporaneity, verticality and extreme cleanliness to achieve a style that today is defined as “modern” but that, in the case of the Castagnedi Family, represents a true distinguishing feature, an authentic stylistic signature of the terroir and of the company’s know-how. The location in the area between Valpolicella and Soave, in fact, makes it possible to find new, authentic and identity-driven expressions of the two Denominations, made of verticality, minerality and graceful complexity, in line with the iconic style that Famiglia Castagnedi has always pursued. The vineyards are thus parcelled out following a sartorial logic, to obtain unique products such as Single Vineyards.
This continuous striving for excellence has led to important recognitions from the most prestigious critics and experts at a global level, such as the inclusion of Amarone Antonio Castagnedi 2018 by Master of Wine Gabriele Gorelli in the list of 10 wines not to be missed at Vinitaly 2024, or the important appreciations of Ned Goodwin, established Master of Wine and James Suckling’s signature, regarding the Soave line, up to the reviews endorsing the Valpolicella Orientale style by Eric Guido for VINOUS Galloni.
“For us, Vinitaly 2024 represents another fundamental step in our path of intimate and authentic interpretation of Valpolicella Orientale, a territory that is modern by nature thanks to its unique terroir, soil and pedoclimatic context characteristics to satisfy current and future consumer trends,” says Armando Castagnedi, owner of Famiglia Castagnedi together with his brothers and responsible for foreign markets. “Monte di Colognola is the fourth part of our ‘white soul’, which completes the revolution that we proudly launched to sanction the strength and potential that our territory offers for the development of great whites, while with the first BIOlogical vintage of TÉLOS Il Bianco we want to open new horizons in contemporary and future oenology. For us, all this can be summed up in the ability to always give current, identity and iconic forms to our land, unhinging preconceptions and proposing continuous reflection on how to always be one step ahead of the national and international scene: our wines tell this story, our wines are us.”
